The surprise for me was how wonderfully the sunken City scene turned out. It started out very small and just kept growing until it ultimately became the soul of the show. And, as well, spending 19 months in the Orient was an amazing experience."

Scott Sherman was the Show Designer and Art Director for this attraction which opened in Tokyo September of 2001. He developed the design and Art Directed the production of all elements in Los Angeles as well as the field installation in Japan.

"I was drawn to this attraction from the start because it featured a ride vehicle that moves fairly slowly, which allows us to tell a much more compelling story. In addition, it was to have a Ship Graveyard, which I felt was a tremendous opportunity to overlay humor- to create some of the warmth and flavor of the Haunted Mansion/ Pirates rides.
